In a hammam, waterproofing is the deciding factor. Finishes laid without a continuous waterproofing layer on the floor and walls soon let moisture through to the floor below or the room next door.
The heating system is chosen according to how often the hammam is used. With underfloor heating, the pipe routing and screed thickness are planned together. If ventilation is inadequate, condensation builds up on the walls, which is why mechanical ventilation is needed in most installations.
